Father's Day

So father's day came and went. (((Sigh)))
Father's day has never been or meant anything to me. My father lived
with me and my mom till I was 6 or 7, when she kicked him out.
He..umm..liked the ladies a lil' too much. But anyway he used to come
visit 2 maybe 3 times a year. No, he didn't live out of state, he just
didn't come by much. He chose another women and her kids over us.
Literally. He was given the choice in front of me but we lost. So one
day, I don't remember if it was my idea or my mom's but I got him a
father's day card. He eventually came by and I gave it to him. He
looked at, nodded his head. Looked at me and smiled. After the 10
minutes he stayed, which was usual, he left. Without the card.

So fast forward to my first father's day, which was a month after I
lost my daughter. My wife made it as comfortable as it could be. I was
actually feeling worse for her.

This year was my second father's day. And my wife got me this great
wooden picture frame, that she decorated. She's gonna put at picture of
me and my daughter in it. Its gonna take some time for her to print the
picture out. It'll be a huge step for her to do. She also got me a card
and a card "from" my daughter.

This year I realized how important father's day is. My wife gave me
that as the best gift.
